On 10/11/12, Artie and Nancy Toulis opened an intimate live
music venue in the back of the Maple Corner Store in the small
town of Calais, VT. It’s become the go-to place for musicians to
gather with friends to share vibrant music, conversation,
delicious food and drink, and the warmth of community.

After March 6th, 2020, our beloved Whammy Bar
temporarily closed because of Covid.
Like a phoenix, the Whammy will rise again.

Friends of the Maple Corner Community Store

Who We Are:

Goal: To engage the community, near and far, in activities to build support and loyalty for the Maple Corner Community Store. Any proceeds from activities will go towards special projects at the store.    

Organizational Structure: The Friends of the Maple Corner Community Store (FOMCCS) is organized by a steering committee under the auspices of the Maple Corner Community Center (MCCC). Olivia Gay, MCCS Outreach Committee member, will chair the steering committee and John Rosenblum is the MCCC representative.   All FOMCCS projects will be reviewed by the MCCC and MCCS Board and, as much as possible, will not add to their workload or that of the MCCS General Manager.    

The Maple Corner Community Center recognizes that the Maple Corner Community Store and Whammy Bar are a cornerstone of our wonderful community.  We are proud to have partnered with the Maple Corner Community Store board in their efforts to raise the funds necessary to purchase the Store and run it as a community owned business, and to sponsor the Friends of the Maple Corner Community Store (FOMCCS).
